Pixelligent Technologies Strengthens IP Portfolio with new U.S. Patent

Baltimore, Maryland – Pixelligent Technologies, a global manufacturer of advanced materials and PixClear™ nanocrystal dispersions for the solid state lighting and flat panel industries, announced today that the U.S. Patent & Trade Office has issued Patent 8,592,511 to Pixelligent Technologies.  The patent is titled “Synthesis, Capping and Dispersion of Nanocrystals” and covers unique aspects of Pixelligent’s synthesis and surface modification technologies.

“This patent is further evidence of Pixelligent’s continued investment in the commercialization of leading-edge high refractive index materials for solid state lighting, display, and other advanced optical applications,” said Craig Bandes, CEO and President of Pixelligent Technologies.

The patented technology supports Pixelligent’s commercialization efforts for Zirconia nanocrystal dispersions for the solid state lighting, flat panel display, and optical component and films markets.  Manufacturers can incorporate Pixelligent’s nanomaterials into existing products and processes to create advanced electronic devices with increased light extraction, more efficiency, and longer lifetimes.

“Securing this patent represents another step in Pixelligent’s strategy of protecting its business through U.S. and foreign patents. Pixelligent has invented novel ways to make and use nanocrystals, and patenting is a key part of how we will protect that IP,” commented Gregory Cooper, Founder and CTO of Pixelligent Technologies.

The company announced the launch of its PixClear™ product line in March 2013 and is currently working with several of the world’s leading chemical and electronic materials companies to integrate Pixelligent’s materials into commercial products.
