Baltimore, Maryland – Pixelligent Technologies, a global manufacturer of advanced materials and PixClear™ nanocrystal dispersions for the solid-state lighting and flat panel industries, announced today it has entered into a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). Entering into this CRADA allows Pixelligent to further optimize materials and formulations to demonstrate improved performance and cost for roll-to-roll manufacturing, including for OLED devices.
“The Department of Energy has identified OLED Lighting as a key long-term priority, and Pixelligent is proud to support this effort. This is a great example of collaboration between private enterprise and national labs,” commented Dr. Zhiyun (Gene) Chen, VP Engineering of Pixelligent Technologies, and principal investigator on the project.
During the term of this CRADA, Pixelligent will work with the DOE’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at ORNL. During this project, Pixelligent will optimize the formulation for ORNL’s roll-to-roll process. This project gives Pixelligent access to the state-of-the-art facilities and world class expertise at ORNL, and will speed market adoption for its products.
“This CRADA is further evidence of Pixelligent’s leadership position in the industry. Our groundbreaking materials are being used to solve important technical and commercial problems in advanced lighting and display. Pixelligent’s materials are uniquely suited to both dramatically increase refractive index for greater light output as well as facilitate integration into low cost manufacturing technologies,” said Craig Bandes, CEO and President of Pixelligent Technologies.
The company announced the launch of its PixClear™ product line in March 2013 and is currently working with several of the world’s leading chemical and electronic materials companies to integrate Pixelligent’s materials into commercial products.
